City Leadership claims we are misleading the public by stating that we are saying "Station 95" is closing. All of our signs/info states "Engine 95" is closing. I guess misleading (by Daly City standards) means speaking against City leadership. BTW, Stations don't save lives, firefighters do! The truth is that the city wants to close Engine 95 and remove 3 firefighters a day. That reduces Daly City from 18 firefighters a day to 15 in a city of over 110,000. Additionally, there will be no Engine (or water) at Station 95. The only truck in North County will try to pick up the slack. However, as the only Ladder Truck company serving Daly City, Pacifica and Brisbane, the truck will often be else where and unavailable to pick up the slack. Therefore, there will not be a Engine or Paramedic at 95 to run 911 medical calls during these times. The citizens will be waiting for an Engine from another area of the city. City leadership is making it sound like there will be no change in service/response time. Who is being misleading? Perhaps the City should talk to the Fire Chief if they would like to learn about Fire department response. ...
Won't truck 95 still be there?
As a resident of Daly City for 51 years and a retired employee of 22 years, this is a terrible decision and a disservice to the residents of this City. We stand behind our firefighters, keep 95 open, cut elsewhere, not Safety!
Note. Up until 1985 approx. Daly City Fire Dept had 21 men on duty every shift which included two aerial ladders. Then staffing was reduced to 19 then 18. Now they want to bring it down to 15. You have to be Kidding ????The citizens should be outraged. Keep informing the public.
The cheap side of Daly City (Pat Martel) never ceases to amaze
That's what you get when the city manger hires a chief from outside the city. He has no ties to the community. The public safety in Daly City is at risk.
How about we start by cutting down salaries of politicians before we start cutting emergency crew?
The same thing happened in San Jose in regards to closing engines and leaving trucks in their place. On two separate occasions, fires occurred right across the street from the truck only station and water wasn't put on the fire until engines arrived from miles away, much later. Those fires grew way bigger than they should have and ended up destroying homes that they should have had the BEST chance of being saved due to their proximity to a fire station. www.mercurynews.com/bay-area-news/ci_29567209/san-jose-firefighters-respond-three-alarm-house-fire
Use the breath through a straw test - have those in favor of shutting down E-95 breathe through a straw for 4 minutes and see if they can do that - then have them breathe through the straw for 9 minutes (the time it will take the next in medic engine) to arrive - hopefully these geniuses will become hypoxic and see the light........ Some people just are real dumb.....
Is the fire chief making noise about this? I certainly hope so.
Just wanted to confirm the time tonight ~ on the City of Daly City website, it indicates the Budget Study Session begins at 5:30.
specifically what can we do to fight this?
Let's not forget a number of years ago that Pacifica engine 73 (?) closed up on Hickey. The thought was DC would pick up the slack because of their proximity. Now another engine to be lost??
engine 95 has come to my grandmother's rescue several times over the last 6 months. without you all, she would have died!
Where does David Canepa stand on this, I thought he was a friend of public safety? Absolutely criminal! Police and Fire getting the brunt of cutbacks and for what reason? Not the city I remember.
I just emailed the City Council, it took me 2 minutes only of my time. Pls do the same, lives are on the line here!
Hmmmm by the way how are the department heads, the city manager and all of her underlings doing? I heard they just gaveled themselves in a pay raise is this correct or not?

Poor little old man. He's cute though. I think the station needs a new mascot. 🐶🚒❤️
